Friday, August 23
- 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Students with the last name beginning with A through L will move in
- 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Students with the last name beginning with M through Z will move in
You will be directed to your residence hall and the check-in table where you will get your keys and sign your housing contract. Members of the O-Team and other student organizations will assist you with moving in. You will also meet your RA and Residence Hall Advisor.
7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - Brunch
Make your way to the Dows Grand Ballroom for your first officially meal as a new student at BVU. Bring your student ID card with you. Parents and other guests are welcome to purchase brunch with cash or check.
7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. - Validation - Dows Conference Center, Siebens Forum
Stop in Dows Conference Center, Siebens Forum, between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The Offices of Business Services, Health Services and Campus Security/Auto Registration will be set up for your convenience in completing any unfinished transactions.
2:00 p.m. - Welcome Address – Siebens Fieldhouse
Bring your family and friends to the Siebens Fieldhouse as you are official welcomed to BVU by the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students.
2:30 p.m - Victory Arch Processional
Take part in your first BVU tradition: the ringing of the Victory Bell and marching through the Victory Arch to Schaller Memorial Chapel.
2:45 p.m. - Founder’s Day Convocation – Schaller Memorial Chapel
Your family and friends are invited to attend the annual Founder’s Day Convocation, another important BVU tradition. Special tributes be paid to you and your classmates and new students will be presented with the academic foundation.
3:45 p.m - President’s Reception – Lawn West of Schaller Chapel
President Fred Moore and his wife, Susan, cordially invite you, your parents and guests to a special reception. As you enjoy refreshments, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet many faculty and staff who will be working with you throughout your years at BVU.
4:15 p.m. - Goodbyes!
Bid your family and friends farewell as you begin your BVU experience.
5:00 p.m. - Introduction to University Seminar – Schaller Chapel
Learn all about University Seminar and the Footprint Project you will be participating in this weekend. After this brief introduction, you will be divided into groups to have your first meeting with your University Seminar class. Meet your instructor, co-curricular advisor, peer mentor and O-Team helper.
6:00 p.m. - Dinner with your University Seminar Classmates and Instructors - Dows Grand Ballroom
*Remember your Student ID for meals.
6:45 p.m. - Floor Meetings
Return to your residence hall where everything you’ll ever want to know about where you are living will be discussed at your first floor meeting. Ask questions as your RA reviews important information about life on campus, life in the residence halls, life in the classroom, as well as upcoming activities. This is also an excellent opportunity to have some quality time with your roommate and floor mates
8:00 p.m. - Presentation by GTC Dramatic Dialogues - Schaller Chapel
Join GTC Dramatic Dialogues and their theatrical approach to important college issues! Bring your thinking cap and be prepared to talk and ask questions!
9:30 p.m. - Beaver’s Creed Introduction– Schaller Chapel
Take part in another BVU tradition as the Student Senate introduces you to the Beaver’s Creed. After you learn about the Beaver's Creed, as you leave the auditorium, you will sign the Beaver Log pledging your adherence to the standards of the BVU community as defined in the Beaver’s Creed.
9:45 p.m. - Beaver's Celebration
Join the O'Team and residence life staff in a variety of evening activities and get to know your classmates. Your choice of activities at Schaller Chapel, Lamberti Recreation Center, the Cent Room, The Underground or the football field.
