History

The Web Management Team (WMT) was launched in 2001 with the purpose of establishing the University’s web site and structure, as well as tracking and evaluating its effectiveness. The WMT served mostly as an advisory panel for the marketing facet of BVU’s web presence.

The WMT was reformed in January 2003 in reaction to and in anticipation of the growth of BVU’s web presence and the need for adequation of all facets of BVU's web presence, its constituents, and its stakeholders.

Web Management Team Defined

The WMT is the construct for the formulation of standards, policies, and recommendations bound as an institutional guide to:

• Academic integration
• Data and information integration
• Design and visible content development
• Programming and application development
• Technology platform and platform management

The primary purpose of the WMT is to provide a forum in which decisions about BVU's web presence and the factors of which it’s made can be guided by those with responsibilities-based interests in the areas affected by those decisions. The WMT also exists to make recommendations to or perform decision-informing for decision-making bodies.

WMT membership includes directorial and staff representation from Information Services, the Library, the Teaching and Learning with Technology Center, and University Communications. Meeting participation is not limited to team members; at times, the WMT may issue invitations to other members of the BVU community.

Vision and Purpose

The Web Management Team’s advocation is the creation and sustenance of a web presence that is a reflection of the university’s mission and strategic visions in serving the needs of academic usage, external marketing, and internal service. Key to this assertion is the recognition that the realization of this vision is best served by (1) maintaining a strategic focus and (2) a cooperative availing of staff resources and perspectives through combined efforts and shared ideas.

The Web Management Team strives to bolster this vision by providing a structure in which web accords are the outcome of constructive collaboration among out diverse stakeholders in the context of institutional values.
