Buena Vista University has an opening for the Director of Admissions in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Director is responsible for all recruitment activities associated with prospective first year and transfer students for the Storm Lake campus, including international students. The successful candidate will demonstrate a plan to enhance enrollment for a rurally located university in a highly competitive and challenging market. This position requires strong managerial and motivational skills, the ability to train, mentor, and develop a staff of 10, and participate collaboratively as a member of the enrollment leadership team. The Director is responsible for the design and execution of the annual admissions plan that will achieve the university’s first-year and transfer student enrollment goals consistently. The Director of Admissions must be both a strong team-builder and team member who is goal oriented, skilled in decision making, properly competitive, ethical, adept at data collection and analysis, able to provide budget oversight for expenditures, and effective in oral and written communications. Director must be up-to-date on best practices in student recruitment including direct mail, electronic and web-enabled recruiting strategies, territory and funnel management, tele-counseling, campus visitation programs and strategies, the effective use enrollment software, and the effective use of data and information in planning and decision-making.
