Apply for Funding
As of September 2015, students will use one general application to apply for BVU value-added funds. The review panel will review applications twice per semester and choose the award most suitable for selected students.
Colliers Student Study Travel Fund
This fund will be used to support the Student Study Travel Program (interim or semester) with emphasis on students who demonstrate financial need. Qualifying students may apply by submitting an application and an itemized estimate of expenses to the Vice President for Academic Affairs office.
E. Horslund Student Internship Fund
The E. Horslund Student Internship Fund is available to support student internships (travel, stipends, housing) and related expenses associated with unpaid or under-paid internships.
Edward M. and Jennifer D. Bodaken Communication Studies Award
The Edward M. and Jennifer D. Bodaken Communication Studies Award provides support for scholarly research in the field of communication studies.
Harry Blackmun Scholarship
This award recognizes a pre-law student and rewards them for outstanding scholarship and contribution to the pre-law atmosphere at the University.
Henry Olson & Ed Bock International Travel Stipend
The Henry Olson and Ed Bock International Travel Stipends are intended to enhance, broaden, and deepen the educational experience at Buena Vista University. The intent of the Stipend is to allow as many students as possible to travel abroad on University-sponsored trips, especially during January Interim. The Stipend should help prepare students for leadership and service in a global society.

J. Leslie Rollins Fellowship
This fellowship, named for J. Leslie Rollins, former assistant dean of the Harvard School of Business and a 1926 graduate of Buena Vista University, provides an off-campus internship experience for students with recognized potential for leadership and accomplishments.
John & Susan Aschenbrenner Student Development Award
The John and Susan Aschenbrenner Student Development Award will be granted to a full-time, Iowa resident student(s) who qualifies for the Iowa Tuition Grant and is enrolled at the Storm Lake campus of the University.
Lamberti Washington Internship
This fund is used to support BVU students who pursue internship opportunities at The Washington Center for Internship and Academic Seminars, or a similar institution or programs located in Washington, DC.
Otteman Internship Endowment in Support of the School of Science
The Otteman Internship Endowment in support of the School of Science is to provide funds to the support student research and internship programs of Buena Vista University in the School of Science.
Otteman Student Research and Internship Fund
The Otteman Student Research and Internship Funds is to provide funds to support student research and the internship program of Buena Vista University in all schools except the School of Science.
The Mac Hornecker Artistic Enrichment Grant for Art Students
The Mac Hornecker Artistic Enrichment Grant for Art Students is a competitive grant opportunity and shall provide an annual award to a BVU art student/students for financial help to accomplish an art project, art related experience, or internship which will enrich their artistic future.
The Tina Donath Memorial Annual Scholarship for Excellence in Print Journalism
This scholarship was created in the memory of Tina Donath. The scholarship recognizes Ms. Donath's long-term work with the "The Storm Lake Times", and her commitment to excellence, thoroughness, and dedication in the field of local print journalism.
Vivian and Paul McCorkle Student Leadership Award
The Vivian and Paul McCorkle Student Leadership Award was established to recognize an outstanding first year student who has demonstrated potential for leadership and scholarship during the current academic year
Wendy C. Waugaman Women and Leadership Development Award
This award is for female students in all disciplines who are interested in leadership development.
Wesselink Student Development Award
This fund will provide financial support for student and student/faculty research, including creation and presentation of major original visual and performing arts, and support for student internships. Support of student travel is related to scholarly research and creative original visual and performing arts is allowable.
William Cumberland Research Award
This award, named in honor of Bill Cumberland, professor emeritus of history, is given to the student who writes the best paper during each academic year.
William Cumberland Student Development Award
This award’s goal is to enhance opportunities for special academically talented students in the areas of internships, off-campus and foreign semesters, and foreign trips.
