"Independent Student" Form

This is designed for U.S. citizens (or permanent residents) who are independent of their parents for support. Use this form if you can answer "yes" to one or more of the following statements:

• You were born before January 1, 1985.
• You are a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.
• You will be a graduate or professional student in 2008-09.
• You are married.
• You are a ward of the court (or were until age 18) or both of your parents are deceased.
• You have legal dependents (other than a spouse).
• You are currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for purposes other than training.
