Buena Vista junior forward Kellyn Arnold keeps ringing in the honors this season, as she has now landed a spot on the Capital One Academic All-American Third Team, as announced late Tuesday night by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Arnold, who was one of two women from the Iowa Conference to be selected, was voted to the Capital One Academic All-Region First Team earlier this month in order to be eligible for All-American recognition.
She becomes the first Academic All-American for the program since Jodi Coleman earned Second Team accolades in both 2005 and 2006 and the first for any sport for the Beavers since Margo Muhlbauer was named to the Second Team in women's basketball back in 2009-10.
Arnold, who holds a 4.00 GPA in Mathematics, helped lead the Beavers to a school-record eight wins this season, while scoring a school-record 14 goals.
The Capital One Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 D-III Academic All-America® teams program.
