About Brian: Born 4/25/91...He is the son of Dan and Kathie Broll. Brian has two brothers, Todd and Allen, and two sisters, Amy and Anna.
High School Highlights: Brian wrestled under Coach Mike Pettit. He accomplished All-Conference accolades twice, All State, and was a four place letter winner in the state tournament. He also lettered in football, withholding awards of All-Conference, Team Captain and All-State team. Outside of athletics, Brian was also lettered in Academics twice in his high school career.
College Highlights: Went 29-11 as a freshman in 2009-10, including 28 triumphs while wrestling at 197 pounds. He also placed third at the Iowa Conference Championships, hosted by BVU, and earned the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championships where he fell one win shy of earning All-American accolades. Following the season, he was named to the d3wrestle.com All-Freshman Team. As a sophomore in 2010-11, he began the year 16-1 and picked up individual titles at the Auggie Brute-Adidas Open, the BVU Open, and the Cornell College Matman Invite. He finished the season at 26-4 and had 13 pins. He again placed third at the IIAC Championships and following the season was named to the IIAC All-Academic team. Last season as a junior, he went a career-best 32-6 and earned his first spot into the IIAC Championship finals, wrestling at 184 pounds. He made his third trip to the NCAA National Tournament and fell one win shy of All-American status, while being ranked in the top-10 nationally for the majority of the season. For the second straight year, he was named to the IIAC All-Academic Team and was also named a First Team Academic All-District performer.
