Trailing 6-0 in the early going, the Buena Vista wrestling team then got momentum with a technical fall and back-to-back pins to help send them past visiting Briar Cliff University (0-6) on Tuesday night, 30-13.

Sophomore Casey Paprocki got the spark started with a second period technical fall, 17-2, at 174 pounds before junior Brian Broll and senior Joe Klinkel recorded back-to-back pis at 184 and 197 pounds, respectively.  Broll, wrestling at 184 pounds after competing at 197 during the first half of the season, improves to 23-1 on the year while Klinkel notched his 11th win.

The Chargers got within 17-9 after winning the heavyweight match 3-2, but junior Austin Mogg, ranked fifth, quickly pushed the margin to 23-9 with a 32 second pin at 125 pounds, while running his overall record to 24-7.

Luis Flores, who led Briar Cliff with 13 wins coming into the meet, posted the team's final win at 133 pounds before the Beavers closed things out with freshman Steve Gutschenritter's 15-1 triumph at 141 pounds followed by fellow freshman Hunter St. John picking up a 6-1 victory in the final bout of the night at 149 pounds.

With the win, Buena Vista evens its season record at 3-3.  The team will continue its home slate on Thursday night, as it welcomes top-ranked Wartburg College (11-1, 1-0 IIAC) to Siebens Fieldhouse for an Iowa Conference match-up beginning at 7:00pm.
