Women's Golf Battles Through Windy Conditions in Round Three

Playing through extremely windy and dry conditions, the Buena Vista women's golf team stood its ground on Friday during the third round of this year's Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championships, played out at Lake Creek Country Club.  Overall, the Beavers shot a 377 for the day and moved up into a tie for fifth with Loras College, as senior Kylie Hammer is in fourth.

The Beavers entered the round in sixth, trailing Simpson by 20 strokes and the Duhawks by 23.  Hammer, who began the day tied for fifth, turned in a team-low round of 90 and moved up one spot into sole possession of fourth.  She enters Saturday's final round one shot in front of Simpson's Stacy Bergeson and Loras' Abby Potts.  Bergeson, who began the round in 19th, carded a low-round score of 80 to move up into the tie for fifth.

Kylie Woodley moved up six spots for the Beavers and is now tied for 20th after her round of 91.  Lauren Doherty climbs up three spots into a tie for 27th, as Arinda Abbuhl sits 29th.  Kassie King rounds out the line-up for BVU, which sits 42 shots in front of Coe College, while trailing Simpson by 37 shots.  The Storm tied both Central and Luther for the low round of the day (360).

Central's Sarah Paulson, who held a six-shot lead heading into the round, takes a five stroke advantage into the final 18 holes of play after her round of 87.  Wartburg's Paige Klostermann is second after a round of 86.

Wartburg continues to lead in the team race, posting a 357 on Friday, and holding an 11-stroke lead over second-place Central College and 43 shots over Luther, which is third.

Saturday's final round will tee-off at 9:00am.
