



The Buena Vista volleyball team hosted the University of Dubuque for Parent's Night on Wednesday inside of Siebens Fieldhouse, but the Spartans would go on to hand the Beavers a 3-0 Iowa Conference loss.
The first set was back-and-forth from the outset with no lead larger than three by either team. BVU led late in the set, 25-24, but Dubuque rolled off three straight to win, 27-25. It was also Spartans in the second, finishing with 12 kills and three errors en route to the 25-14 victory. The Beavers hung onto a 15-14 lead midway through the third frame before UD scored 11 of the set's final 13 points to win 25-17.
Senior Lacie Drennan tallied 10 kills to help lead the Beavers, while moving into sixth on the program's all-time single-season list with 367. She now sits nine away from fifth and 10 shy of fourth. Kirsten VanZuiden was right behind with eight, and she now has 299 for the year. Senior Kacie Woodley turned in seven kills, to go along with a pair of block assists. Freshman Courtney Van Haaften dished out 29 assists, with junior Bailey Schafbuch registering seven digs.
BVU dips to 9-17 overall (0-6 IIAC) and will return to action this Friday and Saturday when it takes part in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Invite. The Beavers will open play on Friday against UW-Superior at 5:00pm.
