



The Buena Vista volleyball team saw its 2011 campaign come to an end on Thursday night with a 3-1 loss at Simpson College (14-18, 2-5 IIAC).
Senior Lacie Drennan, playing her final career match, turned in 15 kills and 17 digs for BVU. She wraps up her four-year campaign with 447 kills this season, marking the second-most in single-season history. Her 840 career total ranks third all-time in program history.
Freshman Kirsten VanZuiden was next with nine kills, with senior Kirsten Brown chiming in with seven kills and four block assists. Freshman Courtney Van Haaften turns in 37 assists and totaled 1,193 for the year - the fourth most in a single season in school history.
Senior Kelsey Essick was second on the team with 14 digs, giving her 458 to close out the year. That total also moved her up into sixth all-time with 835. Kacie Woodley also put an exclamation point on her career by registering nine total blocks in the contest (eight assisted). She finishes third on the all-time list with 271.
Simpson began with a 25-12 victory in the opener before BVU evened things up with a 25-23 win in set two. The Storm then tallied a thrilling 25-23 victory of their own in the third before wrapping up the match with a 25-20 win in set four.
Buena Vista finishes the season at 9-23 overall (0-8 IIAC).
