The Buena Vista men's tennis team was back in action on Saturday afternoon and split a pair of matches, falling 7-2 in its opener to the University of Dubuque before bouncing back with a thrilling 5-4 non-conference win against Morningside College.

Against the Spartans, BVU dropped a pair of close doubles matches, falling 8-5 and 8-2 in the first two slots, respectively, before getting on the board when Cole Renken and Keifer Nevius notched an 8-6 triumph.  Dubuque then took the first five singles matches, including a third-set tie breaker in the number five bout.  Kyle Shade wrapped the match up with a 7-6 (2), 7-2 win in the number six match.

BVU then took all three doubles matches to jump out to the early lead against the Mustangs.  That proved to be key, as Morningside came back to take a 4-3 lead with wins in each of the first four singles matches.  Renken then tied things up with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win in his number five match before Christian Price secured a 6-2, 6-4 win in his only action of the day, to give the Beavers the thrilling win.

Buena Vista improves to 3-2 overall on the year (1-1 IIAC) and will remain on its home court to host College (8:00am) Augustana College (S.D.) (3:00pm) on Saturday, February 25.
