



Freshman John Bral turned in a final round of two-over 74 and finished tied for 18th overall, as the Buena Vista men's golf team captured a seventh-place finish to open the season at the Siouxland Invite, hosted by Dordt College.
Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Bral shaved five strokes off of his opening-round 79 on Thursday. Jaxson Armstrong and Luke Anderson combined to shoot 12 shots lower during Friday's round with scores of 75 and 76, respectively.
Andrew Zinn and Conor Dondale, who each opened with 79's on Friday, finished with final rounds of 80 and 82, respectively, to round out the line-up for the Beavers.
Bral's round matched the fourth-lowest of the day among the 90 golfers taking part.
As a team, BVU improved by 13 shots and moved up one spot in the team race. It finished 11 shots behind Northwestern College (IA) "Red".
The Red Raiders had its other team card a final round 283 to take the team title by 22 strokes over runner-up AIB. Ryan Kiewiet took medalist honors with a final round score of two-under 70 to overtake teammate Neil Malenke, who finished with a 74 after a 70 on Thursday.
Buena Vista has a team also competing at the Mount Mercy Invite in Cedar Rapids today thru Sunday before the Beavers take part in the Palace City Classic beginning on September 21.
