



Junior Andrew Zinn (Spencer, Iowa/Spencer) turned in a career-low round of 74 on Saturday, to help highlight the Buena Vista men’s golf team which finished third overall among the nine teams during the 36-hole Palace City Classic.
Zinn’s career-best followed an opening round 76 on Friday, and he finished the event only two shots back of fifth and 11 shots off the top spot. The sixth-place finish also is his second career top-10 finish.
Conor Dondale (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) was a shot better on Saturday (76) and took 13th, while John Bral (Storm Lake, Iowa/Storm Lake) was 16th after his final round 78. Matt Linquist (Sibley, Iowa/Sibley-Ocheyedan) and Jaxson Armstrong (Anita, Iowa/CAM), who each fired rounds in the 70’s on Friday, closed the event in 26th and 27th place, respectively, after rounds of 83 and 86.
As a team, BVU finished with an overall team score of 618, marking its lowest total of the year and its best 36-hole total since finishing with a 611 at last year’s BVU Spring Invite. It was just eight shots behind runner-up Dakota Wesleyan.
Northwestern College (IA) took the team title (574) and also landed the individual medalist, as Ryan Kiewiet finished at five-under 139.
Buena Vista will send a JV team to the Iowa Lakes CC JV Tournament on Sunday, September 23 before the varsity teams return to action next weekend to compete in the 54-hole Twin Cities Classic in Minneapolis, Minn., beginning on September 29.
