#9 Derek Schwartz

About Derek: Born: 6/29/92…is the son of Dave and Tammy…has two brothers, Bryan and Todd, as well as one sister, Taylor. His father played football for BVU, as did his two older brothers.

High School Highlights: He earned three varsity letters for the Cyclones and was a First Team All-District and Third Team All-State selection as a senior. In addition, he was a four-year letterwinner in baseball and was a two-time Second Team All-Conference selection, as well as a two-time All-District performer. He also started on the State Runner-Up team as a senior. Lettered twice in both basketball and track. Aside from athletics, he was listed on the Honor Roll throughout his career, was an Academic All-Conference, All-District and All-State selection and was a member of the National Honor Society.

College Highlights: Finished his first collegiate season ranked seventh on the team in total tackles. He turned in back-to-back eight tackle contests, including one against Wartburg where he also intercepted his first career pass.
