



The Buena Vista cross country teams began postseason competition by first running at the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Championships on Saturday, hosted by Coe College. The men captured a seventh-place finish, while the women placed eighth.
Sophomore Alex Lamp helped pace the men with his 58th place finish of the 8k race in 27:32.8. Brian Christiansen was next in 27:52.6, as Ben Berberich crossed in 28:10. Andrew Laird ran a season-best time of 28:19.7, while Tyler Peterson tallied the final points for the team after crossing the finish line in 28:31.2
Central College, which had the top three individual finishes, took the team title with just 33 points. Eli Horton captured the individual title in 25:21; 14 seconds faster than his runner-up teammate.
Over on the women's side, the top three runners for BVU all ran their best time of the year. Ashton Alfers ran a personal-best time of 25:30, as did Veronica King in 29:03 and Olivia Nelson in 29:11. Kaitlyn Vorthmann reached the line in 29:48, as Brandy Richards rounded out the line-up.
Wartburg College (21 points) cruised to the team title by 27 points over Luther College. Alana Enabit gave the Knights the individual champion as well with a clocking of 21:24.6.
Next up for the teams will be the Regional Championships which take place next Saturday in Northfield, Minn., beginning at 11:00am.
