



The Buena Vista cross country teams hit the course for the first time in nearly a month as they hosted the BVU Invite out at Lake Creek Country Club with three teams competing on each side.
Ashton Alfers was the top BVU finisher on the women's side, taking fourth overall in the 22-runner field, with a time of 25:34.57. Brandy Richards was next in 16th in a time of 28:45.67, while Kaitlyn Vorthmann and Veronica King followed right behind, reaching the finish line in 29:01 and 29:12. Olivia Nelson rounded out the group for BVU with a clocking of 30:36.
Leah Courtney from Iowa Lakes CC won the individual title with a time of 24:33, crossing nearly one minute faster than the runner-up.
Simpson College won the team race with 23 total place, as Iowa Lakes and BVU followed with 54 and 59, respectively.
Over on the men's side, Alex Lamp also took fourth to lead the Beavers during the 8k run in a time of 27:02. Seth Woodson was next in eighth place, running a time of 28:13. Jared Bruce gave the team its third top-10 placing, crossing the finish line in 28:22 to place 10th.
Joe Farrand of Simpson College took the individual title in 26:41.76, as the Storm also won the team race with 17 points.
BVU will be back in action again next week as it takes part in the Dan Houston Invite on Saturday, October 6th beginning at 10:45am.
