College Highlights: Ryan appeared in 26 games for the Beavers as a freshman, including 15 starts, primarily as the team’s designated hitter. He made his collegiate debut and got the start against St. Olaf on February 24. Two games later, he recorded his first career hit when he went 3-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored in game one of a doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan. In game two, he tallied two more hits, including his first double, while driving in a career-high three runs. One of his big moments came in the championship game of the IIAC Tournament when he came on as a pinch hitter and picked up a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh to give BVU a 2-1 lead en route to a 9-4 victory and the tournament title. He became the team’s starting first baseman as a sophomore and finished second on the team in average. He had multiple hitting streaks of over 10 games on the year and hit safely in 40 of the 50 games he played. He had 23 multi-hit games, including five three-hit outings. In the Central Regional Championship game against Carthage, he went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and one run scored. He was equally productive with the glove, committing only five errors in more than 460 total chances and was recognized by earning Gold Glove honors by the ABCA. Last season, he led the team in average overall and was fifth in the IIAC during conference play only with his .370 mark. He set a new career-high with four hits, including a double and home run against St. Scholastica, while driving in six and scoring three. He had three four-hit games on the year and led the team and tied for third in the league with 58 total hits. Following the year, he was a Second Team All-Conference selection and was voted on by his teammates as the team’s MVP.
