
Buena Vista freshman John Bral is tied for 12th overall as he and the rest of the Buena Vista men's golf team wrap up the 54-hole Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus on Monday at Elks River Golf Club.
Bral fired a career-low 2-under 70 during Friday's opening round and was tied for fourth after 18 holes, just two strokes back of the lead. He then followed with a 76 on Saturday and is tied for 12th, but is only four strokes back of the lead. He's also posted the third-best score among the four IIAC schools taking part.
Conor Dondale and Shay Kaufman each posted rounds of 80 on Friday before going 82 and 86 on Saturday. Dondale heads into his final 18 holes tied for 74th, while Kaufman is tied for 82nd.
Adam Pitts and Kyle Auffert round out the team for the Beavers. Pitts, who opened with an 85 on Friday, bounced back with an 82 on Saturday, and is tied for 84th, while Auffert, who bettered his opening-round score by six strokes on Saturday, is tied for 86th.
As a team, BVU is in 16th place among the 17 teams. Gustavus Adolphus is just two-over par as a team and leads the overall race by nine strokes over the University of Manitoba. Nebraska Wesleyan is third and 11 shots back.
The Gusties' Tyler McMorrow and the Prairie Wolves' Drew Taylor lead the medalist race at two-under par (142). Four players are tied for second at one-under, with five others just three shots back at one-over.
