Central College broke a scoreless game with two runs in the fifth inning of game one over the Beavers, as the 17th-ranked Dutch went on to win 2-0. Central then used a pair of big innings in the nightcap to win 10-3.
A lead-off home run to start the fifth put the Dutch in front 1-0 before they added a two-out RBI single following a pair of BVU defensive miscues. The Beavers had two runners on in both the fifth and sixth innings, but couldn't come through with the big base knock.
The two teams combined for only seven hits in the contest with BVU stranding seven base runners.
Freshman Jenna Falline took the loss, while going the distance and allowing just the one earned run on four hits, while striking out three and walking only one.
Central took control early in game two, plating four runs in the first. BVU did claw back to within a 4-3 margin with a run in the second and two more in the third, but the Dutch came back with a run in their half of third and three more in the fourth for an 8-3 advantage. Single runs in the final two innings made it 10-3.
Stephanie Hayed and Jessica Stocker each posted three hits to help lead the Beavers with Brooke Berkey adding two.
Faith Schmidt was handed the loss for BVU, pitching three innings and being charged with eight runs on eight hits.
BVU is now 11-15 overall (2-6 IIAC) and will be right back in action on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:00pm home doubleheader against Simpson College.
