The Buena Vista track and field teams were able to enjoy some outdoor competition the last couple of days by taking part in the annual Sioux City Relays Friday afternoon and Saturday.
Maggie Marker took second in the 100 meter dash (12.57) with Laura Eberly close behind in seventh (12.98).
Rachel Burnette captured sixth-place in the 100 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.71. She later finished six seconds off the winning pace in the 400 meter hurdles, taking 11th in 1:08.82.
Marker and Eberly teamed with Casey James and Katie Larsen to place third in the 4x100 meter relay, posting a clocking of 49.42. The same duo also took second in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:44.21.
Molly Hutchins notched a second-place effort in the hammer throw with a heave of 39.17m, as Erin Laursen was fifth at 36.00m and Tina Ageson sixth at 35.92m.
Over on the men’s side, Alex Lamp finished eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with Tyler Peterson.
The 4x200 meter relay team was third in a time of 1:31.34.
Bo Darrow and Collin Mann placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the javelin throw, with tosses of 52.68m and 49.45m.
Both teams will return to the track next Saturday by taking part in the Prairie Wolf Invite, hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.
