Junior Tyler Lafferty has been recognized by the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) for his play over the past week by being named the league’s Men’s Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week, for the period ending September 9. He becomes the program’s first to win the offensive player honor since Eric Karita did so back in October of 2010.
Lafferty, who currently leads all IIAC players with six goals, turned in his first career hat trick against Presentation College last Wednesday afternoon inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium, helping lead the Beavers to the 7-0 victory.
A key component for the team offensively, Lafferty has been right in the middle of seeing the team already match its goal total (16) from all of last season.
The Beavers (3-0-1) look to make it five straight games without a loss to start the season when they travel to Martin Luther College for a 5:00pm contest on Tuesday, September 11. BVU edged MLC, 2-1, in overtime during last year’s meeting in Storm Lake.
