The Buena Vista track and field teams were back in action for the final day of the 48th annual Sioux City Relays on Saturday, and it was a record-breaking day for the Beavers, as the women's 4x200 meter relay team sets a school record in a winning time of 1:42.63.
The team of freshman Casey James, freshman Maggie Marker, senior Amber Woodford, and freshman Laura Eberly, reached the finish line just over one second faster than Division I South Dakota. The Beavers broke the record they just set in Friday's preliminary round (1:43.60).
The women had qualified a pair of teams into the 4x100 meter relay final on Saturday, but the event was not ran as the meet was called early due to severe weather that moved its way through the Sioux City area.
On the men's side, BVU had two teams make the finals in the same event, and the Beavers "A" team took second overall in 1:29.19, while the "B" team was fifth in 1:31.49. The "A" team of Peter Winterton, Tyler Case, Ryan Eberly and Stefan Petersen qualified second on Friday and were edged only by Division I South Dakota.
The men also had its 4x800 relay team of Seth Woodson, Jared Bruce, Brian Patterson and Andrew Smith place third in a time of 7:59.92.
Buena Vista will return to action on Friday and Saturday (April 20-21) when it takes part in the Red Raider Open, hosted by Northwestern College (IA).
