The Buena Vista men's tennis team closed out its 2013 campaign by bouncing back with a 5-0 victory over the University of Dubuque in Saturday morning's fifth-place match played inside of the Clark Racquet Center on the campus of Coe College.
BVU grabbed the early 3-0 lead with victories in all three doubles matches, including a thrilling 9-8 (9-7) triumph at number one by Adam Gustad and Kyle Shade. The duo went 7-3 over their last 10 outings and finished the season at 9-6 overall.
Dillon Nevius and Christian Price paired up and won their outing 8-3 to follow Gustad and Shade with a 7-5 campaign. Jason Ehrhardt and Cole Renken notched an 8-2 win in the number two slot, and they finish with six wins on the year.
Renken and Ehrhardt each picked up singles wins to secure the win for the Beavers. Renken won 6-1, 6-3 in the number three slot and finishes tied for the team lead in wins (9). Ehrhardt also won in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) and was second with his 8-6 mark overall.
The win gives BVU a final overall record of 10-7 for the year, the most wins in a season since it finished 11-2 in 1997.
