The Buena Vista men's soccer team pulled within 2-1 midway through the second half, but Central College scored a late goal off a corner kick to hang on and edge the Beavers, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutch broke the scoreless tie 12 minutes into the contest before adding a penalty kick midway through the half for a 2-0 lead.
Joey Stivers posted his fifth goal of the year early in the 61st minute to cut the BVU deficit in half, but the Dutch, who out-shot the Beavers, 23-4, in the contest, converted a corner kick late in the 72nd minute for the game's final score.
Stivers finished with two of the team's four shot in the contest. Michael Rydberg tallied five saves, defensively.
Buena Vista is now 5-8-1 overall (0-5 IIAC) and will be back in action on Wednesday when the Beavers step out of conference play to travel to Gustavus Adolphus.
