Senior Kellyn Arnold found the back of the net early in Sunday's contest against visiting Grinnell College, and that goal proved to be just enough as the Beavers hung on to edge the Pioneers, 1-0.
Arnold was set up for the goal in front of the box by passes from junior Shelby Ripperger and freshman Tori Carson, and from there knocked it past a diving goalkeeper for her team and Iowa Conference leading seventh goal of the year, just more than five minutes into the contest.
As a team, BVU out-shot the Pioneers in the first half before Grinnell came back with 14 shots over the final 45 minutes, while holding the Beavers to only three. Despite the wide margin, freshman keeper Jaclyn Pfeifer gave the team a lift with six saves during that span and seven for the game.
Arnold led BVU with four shots (two on-goal) as Ripperger followed with three.
Pfeifer improves to 3-0 in-goal for the Beavers this season and has yet to allow a goal in those three appearances.
Buena Vista, meanwhile, remains unbeaten at 4-0-1 and will look to match its program record of six straight games without a loss when it goes back on the road for a non-conference match-up with Martin Luther College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm.
