The Buena Vista men’s and women’s track and field teams were back in action on Saturday by hosting the Beaver Relays inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium. The teams were going up against individuals from Martin Luther College and Faith Baptist Bible College.
On the women’s side, Maggie Marker won the 100 meter dash and was second in the 200 meter dash. Casey James, meanwhile, finished just behind Marker in the 100 and slightly in front of her in the 200.
Holly Neutzman was victorious in the 800 meter run with Rachel Burnette crossing first in the 400 meter hurdles. Burnette also took the winning honors in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.76.
BVU was also tops in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
Amber Riedy was the lone competitor in the pole vault and posted a mark of 3.12 meters, which was better than any of her heights during the indoor season.
Molly Hutchins recorded her second-best toss of the year in the shot put (11.28m) en route to a first-place finish by more than two meters. She then edged teammate Tina Ageson in the discus with a toss of 35.64 meters before doing the same in the hammer throw. He throws were each a career-best.
Erin Laursen threw the javelin 30.75 meters to win the event, as BVU held the top four spots.
Brock Loseke won the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.59, edging teammate Christian Cottingham but just more than .20 of a second.
Ryan Eberly captured the 400 meter dash in 51.29, as Seth Woodson ran the fastest time in the 800 (1:58.73). Alex Lamp was victorious in the 1,500 meter run by nearly eight seconds.
Doug Bohaty ran his third-fastest time in the 110 hurdles to win the event, as Andrew Smith posted the top time in the 400 (57.54).
The Beavers also took the top finish in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
Branden Schultz won the pole vault, Tony Raveling the shot put and Bryan Hays the hammer throw. Collin Mann capped things off with a win in the javelin.
