Dillon Nevius took third place in the Flight C singles bracket to highlight the Buena Vista men's tennis team during the IIAC Individual Championships held on Friday and Saturday at Decorah, hosted by Luther College.
Nevius picked up an 8-2 victory over Wartburg's Paul Masterson to begin the tournament before making his way into the semifinals with another 8-2 decision followed by an 8-3 triumph. His bid for a spot into the championship match came up a little short, as he fell to Central's David Bouska, 8-1. He did bounce back in the third-place match to pick up another 8-2 victory.
The Beavers also had a pair of doubles teams in the Flight B bracket win a pair of matches before falling in the quarterfinals. The seventh-seeded team of Jason Ehrhardt and Cole Renken picked up 8-6 and 9-7 triumphs before being edged 8-6 in the quarters.
Meanwhile, Drake Swanson and Kyle Weeden picked up 8-5 and 8-4 decisions before they were beaten 8-2 in their quarterfinal bout.
The championships conclude the fall portion of the team's schedule.
