Athletic Training Facility

The athletic training facility in the lower level of Siebens Fieldhouse provides 2,600 square feet of space for hydrotherapy, electronic stimulation, ultrasound and rehabilitation for members of the athletics teams. The area includes three offices and a team physician's office.

Baseball Field

BVU and the Storm Lake Community School District share the baseball field located at the Storm Lake High School campus. Renovation on the field, completed in 2008, makes it the first in the state of Iowa to have field turf. The field also boasts a new scoreboard, dugouts, bleachers and press box.

Baxter Wrestling Room

The Al Baxter Wrestling room spans 4,000 square feet and includes two 43 x 43-foot wrestling mats, seven stationary riding bikes, free weights, barbells of various weights and a sound system. Six windows facing the lighthouse on Storm Lake allow natural light to highlight the room. The room is named for longtime wrestling coach Al Baxter, who coached BVU wrestlers from 1978 to 2004.

Buntrock Tennis Courts

The Buntrock Tennis Courts, adjacent to Siebens Fieldhouse, are for use by BVU faculty, staff and students. The four courts were re-surfaced in the summer of 2007, providing an excellent atmosphere for tennis.

Finkbine Natorium

Finkbine Natatorium, located in the lower level of Siebens Fieldhouse, is a 45 x 75-foot, six-lane, 25-yard pool with a one-meter diving board. The pool is open to the public for pool members only. The pool was named in appreciation for gifts made by Frank M. Finkbine and his daughters Susan Graves and Sally Baker in memory of their wife and mother, Mae Finkbine.

Fritcher Fitness Center

This 6,000-square-foot facility houses many types of free weights, selectorized equipment and tread mills for use by Buena Vista University students, faculty and staff. The facility, completed in 2001, is filled with more than 60 pieces of Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment, along with assorted barbells ranging from one to 125 pounds.

Lake Creek Golf & Country Club

Lake Creek Golf & Country Club, located outside three miles outside of Storm Lake in Alta, Iowa, is used for golf and cross country meets as well as for recreational purposes.

J. Leslie Rollins Stadium & Bradford Field

J. Leslie Rollins Stadium and Bradford Field are home to BVU's football and track teams. This facility includes an all-weather, eight-lane track installed in 2003; a 240-foot stadium extending between the 10-yard lines; and a 3,000 seating capacity. The track is open for general public use.

The stadium was named for James Leslie Rollins. Rollins was the star halfback on the 1925 football squad, was chosen as a Second and Third Team All-Conference team member and also played forward on the 1926 Iowa Conference Championship basketball team for Buena Vista.

Rollins achieved distinction as one of the deans of the Harvard Business School, where he remained for 24 years (1942-1966). He would become a prominent national figure in the field of education and retained a lifelong interest in his alma mater. Rollins received the BVU Distinguished Service Award and an honorary doctorate in 1987, the same year the stadium was named in his honor.

Bradford field was named for former Board of Trustees President Scott Bradford.

Lamberti Recreation Center

The Lamberti Recreation Center is a 54,000-square-foot facility that includes the six-lane, 200-meter Dennis Young Indoor Track and three multi-purpose courts--Brown Court, Pierce Court and Saggau Court--that are used for tennis, volleyball and basketball.

The BVU football, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, and track and field teams all take advantage of this facility when the weather does not permit outdoor practices. The facility has also been the venue for many events since opening in 2001, including indoor collegiate and high school track invitational meets, alumni track invitational meets, indoor tennis, youth basketball shoot-outs and intramurals.

The facility is named in honor of Don Lamberti, chair of BVU's board of trustees and chairman of Casey's General Stores, for his multi-million-dollar leadership gift in funding the new building.

Siebens Fieldhouse

Siebens Fieldhouse, home to the Athletic Department, was originally dedicated on December 6, 1968. The facility included two handball courts; the 45 x 75-foot, six-lane Finkbine Pool; a training room; two locker rooms; faculty dressing room; equipment storage room; mechanical equipment room; laundry room; pool office and storage room. The main floor featured three classrooms, offices, staff locker room, restrooms, gymnasium and a storage room. The upper balcony had seating for 2,700, storage and folding bleachers, which made room for a multi-purpose area used for weight lifting, gymnastics, dancing and boxing. The cost of the project was $1,160,000.

The facility underwent major renovations in 2001-02. Locker room space was reconfigured to allow for nine individual locker rooms, the hardwood racquetball and gymnasium floors were sanded and re-finished incorporating the new athletic logo and new heating and cooling systems were installed. In addition, the athletic training room was relocated and expanded, two classrooms also being relocated to the lower level.

Soccer Complex

The BVU Athletic Complex is located west of Vestal Street just past 9th Street, five blocks from campus. This complex first hosted soccer matches in the fall of 2002. The complex currently has two championship soccer fields, a concession stand, and football practice fields. Plans for future development include a locker room complex.
