AWOL is BVU's alternative spring break program. Three trips are being planned for 2013.
Cultural Immersion & Environmental
Students will volunteer with The Grand Canyon Trust, a conservation organization whose mission is to protect and restore the Colorado Plateau. Students will work with the Hopi and Navajo tribes to develop culturally appropriate, community-based green economy projects.
Children and Poverty
Students on this year's "mystery trip" will embark on a service adventure that will volunteer with children living in poverty in an orphanage. The group will volunteer in a variety of areas, including assisting with medical and health needs of the children and individuals of the area.
Hunger and Homelessness
Students will take a week-long immersion into Hunger and Homelessness volunteer service in Seattle, Washington. They will assist over 2,000 people each day, facing a variety of poverty issues. The BVU team will be offering assistance at a food storage warehouse and other non-profit organizations in Seattle.
