Rachel Rudeen joined the BVU Admissions team in May 2012. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and English, but time spent in the admissions and student affairs offices at her alma mater steered her toward working with prospective students.
"I developed a passion for working with high school students, interacting with their families, and showcasing what a liberal arts education has to offer," she says. "College is an exciting time filled with plenty of anxiety and no student should feel like they have to go through it alone."
She believes the personal attention given at BVU opens a lot of doors for students.
"At BVU, every staff and faculty member is dedicated to giving a personalized education experience," she says. "With the faculty’s help, students have the resources to create unique education opportunities through study abroad, research projects, and internships. Creative and experiential learning is definitely encouraged and well-executed."
A native of Bird Island, Minn., Rachel enjoys singing, sports and games, movies and reality TV. She is also trained in improvisational comedy, which might come in handy in her role as an admissions counselor.
“It has taught me to listen, react, have no expectations, trust my instincts, and rely on others working with me. It has really served me well in many areas of my life and I find I can relate it to just about anything,” she says.
