As the director of admissions at Buena Vista University, Bridget Kurkowski’s goal is to show each prospective student the unique educational experience that BVU has to offer.
“I want to give potential new students and their families a good perspective of what their lives will be like once they are students at BVU,” says Bridget. “Our job is to work with families to help them through the college search process and make sure that they know of all the amazing opportunities that await them at BVU.”
After earning her bachelor’s degree in history and political science from a small private liberal arts college in Nebraska in 2001, Bridget worked as an admissions counselor at her alma mater before being promoted to assistant director of admissions that same year.
From 2006-2009, Bridget worked as the director of admissions/international student admissions representative at a two-year private liberal arts college in Georgia. During that time, Bridget obtained her master’s degree in management from her alma mater before accepting her current position at BVU in 2009.
“I really enjoy meeting students and their families and helping them through the process of choosing a college or university,” says Bridget. “I am also very grateful that many of the students I have recruited have stayed in touch with me over the years. It is very rewarding to see them evolve from high school seniors to very successful college graduates.”
In her spare time, Bridget enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
“I always feel a sense of accomplishment to see a group of new students move to campus and start their college careers,” adds Bridget. “I feel that same sense of accomplishment when I watch that same group walk across the stage at graduation after observing them achieve and learn so much during their time at BVU.”
