Rotary District 5970 will award three $5,000 District Grant Scholarships
for the 2013-2014 academic year. District Grant Scholarships may be used at
the vocational/community college or four year college/university level for either
undergraduate or graduate study. Scholarships will be awarded for one school year
(two semesters of study) and paid directly to the recipient’s school of choice, once
the recipient is successfully enrolled.

Rotary District 5970, District Grant Scholarship. Go to this website for further details:

To become a candidate for a Rotary District Grant Scholarship for undergraduate
or graduate study, a person (a) must be sponsored by a local District 5970
Rotary club in his/her home town or by a local District 5970 club in the community in
which he/she attends college or is employed and must then be selected for the
scholarship by the Education Awards Committee in Rotary District 5970. The club
president of the sponsoring club will need to sign the endorsement page and send it, along with the application materials (see applicant checklist posted under the “scholarship” section online).
Every club in the district is entitled to sponsor up to two applicants. All sponsored
applications that meet deadlines will be reviewed and screened by the District 5970
Grants Scholarship Subcommittee.

Quota International of Sioux City is awarded to students pursuing post secondary education who are deaf or hearing impaired or to students who are going into a field of study that will benefit and assist those who are deaf or hearing impaired. Students who reside within a 100-mile radius of Sioux City are eligible to apply. Application deadline is June 7, 2013 and applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance.

The 2013 Robert D. Blue Scholarship application is now available online at www.rdblue.org. Students whom wish to apply for the scholarship are required to complete the application online at www.rdblue.org.

The Robert D. Blue scholarship is made possible by the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation. Any Iowa student who plans to attend an Iowa college or university is eligible for this award. Applicants are expected to demonstrate literary and scholastic ability; exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character. The deadline for submission is May 10, 2013.

Westmar Endowment Scholarship Program
Through the generosity of the Westmar College Endowment Board of Trustees, the Westmar Scholarship Program was permanently endowed. The Westmar Friends and Alumni Association and the Westmar Student Association have added funds to the endowment. Scholarships are awarded annually to the best qualified students according to academic merit, commitment to community service and leadership qualities. First consideration will be given to students who are currently residents of northwest Iowa and have a Westmar connection such as alumni, former staff and former faculty of Westmar as well as their children and grandchildren. Second consideration will be given to students who are residents of LeMars; and third consideration will go to students who have Westmar connections such as alumni, former staff and former faculty of Westmar as well as their children and grandchildren. The Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples organization is sponsoring two $350 scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year for Iowa's multiple birth students pursuing enrollment or who are currently enrolled in a college, university, trade or vocational school. The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students. Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. Varsity Tutors Monthly Scholarship offers a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest to students who write the best essay in response to a monthly prompt. Mass Mutual Scholars Program will provide $150,000 in college scholarships to high-achieving students of African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic descent interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industry. Eligible students must be entering their sophomore, junior, senior or 5th year. Deadline for application is May 3, 2013. Students can apply online at: www.act.org/massmutual.

Principal Financial Group Minority Scholarship

The Principal Financial Group has renewed their Minority Scholarship Program and will award four $2,500 scholarships to students on the campuses of member institutions. These minority awards are very prestigious and each institution may submit one nomination. Internships are a strong possibility for these scholars, so applicants should be interested in an internship possibility.

To be eligible for these scholarships, students must:

Be of sophomore status or above
Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
Be a US Citizen or have permanent residency
Be Minority in descent
Have a strong interest in an internship with Principal
Show leadership capabilities

The nominee must attach an essay (200 words or less) describing academic interests, professional objectives, and personal/community activities and experiences to an application that can be requested from the Office of Financial Assistance. Both pieces of the application must be received in the Office of Financial Assistance by April 29, 2013.

Principal Technology Scholarship

The Principal Financial Group has renewed their Technology Scholarship Program and will award six $2,500 scholarships to students on the campuses of selected member institutions (BVU is a member institution). These technology awards are very prestigious and each institution may submit one nomination. Internships are a strong possibility for these scholars, so applicants should have an interest in an internship.

To be eligible for these scholarships, students must:

Be of sophomore status or above
Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
Be a US Citizenship or have permanent residency
Have declared a major in IT or a related field
Have a strong interest in an internship with Principal
Have a demonstrated record of computer literacy
Have the ability to work in a group setting

Principal Financial Group Business Scholarship

The Principal Financial Group has renewed their Business Scholarship Program and will award six $2,500 scholarships to students on the campuses of our selected member institutions. These business awards are very prestigious and each institution may submit one nomination. Internships are a strong possibility for these scholars, so applicants should be interested in an internship.

To be eligible for these scholarships, students must:

Be of sophomore status or above
Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
Be a US Citizenship or have permanent residency
Have declared a major in Finance, Accounting, Management, Marketing, Real Estate, Economics or Communications
Have a strong interest in an internship with Principal
Show leadership capabilities

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co.- has established a scholarship program with the Iowa College Foundation beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year. Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year. The following criteria will be used in determining scholarship recipients:

Must be a Junior in the upcoming Fall 2013 semester
Must be a declared Business major
Resident of one of the following counties: Bremer, Clayton, Marshall, Hancock, Clinton, Dubuque, Buchanan, Mitchell, Fayette, Tama, Marion, Jones, Howard, Winneshiek, Cedar or Grundy
Minimum GPA of 2.75
Must be involved in at least one student academic/professional organization
Must have interest in internship opportunity within Spahn & Rose Lumber Co.

Recipients will be eligible to renew the award in their senior year if the above criteria are maintained.

Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due back to the Office by April 12, 2013. Winners will be selected and notified shortly after that date.

The Carver Scholarship application is now available at www.carvertrust.org for current college sophomores that will reach junior status for the fall semester of the 2013-14 school year. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school in Iowa or have been a resident of Iowa for at least five consecutive years immediately prior to application. Students must present evidence of unusual social and/or other barriers to attending college full time and must demonstrate need by completing the FAFSA by March 1, 2013. A minimum 2.8 CGPA is required. One student will be selected to receive this expected $7,600 award at Buena Vista for the 2013-14 school year.

The Business and Professional Women of Iowa Foundation-now taking applications for educational scholarships for the 2012-13 year. Applicants must be; US Citizens and a resident of Iowa, non-traditional, a sophomore or better in academic standing. Applications must be postmarked by March 20.2013. Awards are for $1,000 each. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance.

MaxYield Cooperative Scholarship-is designed to provide financial assistance for students pursuing higher education in the field of agriculture. Five $1,000 scholarships will be available to full time students in pursuit of agricultural curriculum. Applicants must be a MaxYield Cooperative client or the dependent of a MaxYield Cooperative client. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due by March 8, 2013.

OFFUTT Enlisted Spouses Club will be awarding scholarships in 2013 to spouses of active duty, retired or deceased enlisted military personnel residing in Sarpy, Douglas or Cass Counties in Nebraska and Mills and Pottawattamie Counties in Iowa. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program-recognizes students who put forth the effort and find success both in and out of the classroom, yet unable to attend college without financial assistance. Yankton College Scholarship Program- Yankton College closed its doors in 1984, but still maintains its missions as a non-profit organization, awarding scholarships and supporting educational opportunities. With that in mind, awards are available to students that have a family relationship to Yankton College alumni, former faculty or staff, or a family friend, teacher or pastor with a YC connection recommendation. Alice Barton Scholarship- The Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence is announcing this scholarship program, which is meant to assist survivors of domestic violence. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due by December 14, 2012.

The Dave Shay KGAN-TV Scholarship for Broadcast Journalists-available to full time junior/senior college students seeking a career in broadcast journalism. Only Iowa residents with a 3.0 are eligible to apply. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due by July 1, 2012.

The Fruit Company Gift Basket Entrepreneur Scholarship-open to freshmen who are graduates of any US high school. Business or agriculture majors. Award amount is $4,000 and the deadline is April 30, 2012. Applications can be found at www.TheFruitCompany.com.

Des Moines Women's Club Memorial Scholarship-Applications and instructions for applying for these scholarships may be downloaded at www.desmoineswomensclub.org and clicking on "scholarships". The deadline for application is January 25, 2013.

5,000 Engineering Scholarships -ASCO Numatics, the world's leading manufacturer of comprehensive fluid automation, flow control, and pneumatics solutions, is proud to announce the beginning of the 2012/2013 scholarship application period. We will award two $5,000 merit-based scholarships to U.S. engineering students who are pursuing careers in industrial automation-related disciplines. ASCO Numatics will also make $1,000 grants to the engineering departments of the colleges in which the winners are enrolled. Hy-Vee Foundation awards-up to 40 $1,000 awards will be available for the 2012-13 school year. Employment with Hy-Vee is required. Applications are due by February 10, 2013 and materials are available in the Office of Financial Assistance.

Health Care Career Scholarships-recipients will be awarded $3,000 per academic year. Work repayment in an Iowa hospital is mandatory. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in one of the health care professions listed on the application and must be within two years of earning their degree. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due by March 14, 2012.

The Siouxland Professional Women's Network is please to again announce a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for a non-traditional Siouxland woman planning to attend college in 2011-12. Eligible applicants are that with a permanent residence within 50-mile radius of Sioux City, 24 years of age or older with at least 1 year's break in education. The application may be found on the Siouxland Professional Women's Network facebook page or inquiry at SCspwn@gmail.com. Application deadline is April 22, 2011.

Iowa Hosptial Education and Research Foundation Scholarships are available in amounts up to $6,000 ($3,000 a year for a maximum of two years). In 2010, thirty-one $3,000 scholarships were awarded.

The goal of this program is to fill healthcare positions that currently have a significant number of openings across Iowa. Selected students must be willing to commit to working one year in an Iowa hospital. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance or at: www.ihaonline.org for students enrolled in majors related to healthcare (a list is available on the application), including social work.

Computer Science and Computer Engineering Scholarship-A $1,000 academic award will be given to a student pursuing a degree in these areas.

Applications are now being taken for the Iowa Braille School's McGregor Scholarship. We anticipate awarding up to $60,000 per year. The McGregor Scholarship Program is for students who are blind or visually impaired and meet the following eligibility requirements:

blind or visually impaired prior to reaching the age of 21
an Iowa resident for the twelve months preceding the application date
a high school graduate or a graduating senior, or a GED recipient
applying for the scholarship within eight (8) years from the high school graduation date or the date of receipt of a GED
pursuing a post-secondary course of study on a full-time* basis in a degree program from an accredited college, university, or vocational institution within the U.S.
maintaining a 2.5 grade point average

The United State Navy Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program is available to students who are seeking enrollment into a medical school in the area of Medicine/Dentistry/Optometry. The scholarship offers full tuition plus a monthly income. Call 1-888-724-2100 for more information and for an application.

Accountemps/American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) Scholarship Program is offering the following:

Accountemps/AICPA Scholarship - two $2,500 scholarships available to student affiliate members pursuing studies in accounting. Eligible students must have a declared major in accounting, finance or information systems and must have a CGPA of 3.0 or better with 30 or more earned hours, 6 of which must be in accounting.

RHODES SCHOLARSHIP FOR TEACHERS
This fellowship is designed to bring the best and the brightest young people to careers as teachers in New York City public schools. The scholarship will support 20 of the nation's most outstanding and accomplished recent college graduates as they pursue master's degrees at Teacher's College and prepare for careers as NYC K-12 teachers. Students will be selected based on academic accomplishments, financial need, demonstrated potential for leadership, and commitment to service and a career as an urban teacher. JOHN GYLES EDUCATION AWARDS
Awards are available to both male and female students who are residents of Canada or the USA. A minimum CGPA of 2.7 is required. Selected students will receive up to $3,000. FAMILIES OF FREEDOM SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established to provide education assistance for postsecondary study to members of families impacted by events of September 11. Inquire at the Office of Financial Assistance for more information.

IOWA SCOTTISH RITE MASONIC EDUCATIONAL FUND
This is a LOAN program available to Iowa residents and may be extended to out-of-state students attending an Iowa college/university. Applicants must show financial need and have completed at least one year of college. A transcript must be submitted to show evidence of further academic success (sophomores must have a 2.75 CGPA and juniors, seniors and graduate students must have a 2.5 CGPA. Three character references need to be submitted as well. Student may borrow up to $2000/year up to an aggregate total of $6,000. Principal payments need not be made until the loan recipient's education is completed or discontinued. Current interest rate is 6% per year and payments should be made in semi-annual installments.
