“…my time in D.C. was invaluable”

Lindsey Peterson, Class of 2013

Hometown: Alta, Iowa
Majors: Political Science and History
Internship: The Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington D.C.

“I lived in Washington, D.C. for a semester interning in the curator department at the Naval History and Heritage Command and participating in the Washington Center program. Although I determined that I would not pursue a career in museum studies, my time in D.C. was invaluable. I benefitted from the endless amount of educational programs D.C. has to offer, especially those about the Civil War. I also attended dozens of free lectures by premier Civil War historians and was able to travel often across the east coast.”

“...allowed me to apply the skills I'd acquired”

Mariana Ramirez, Class of 2014

Mariana Ramirez

Hometown: Schaller, Iowa
Major: History
Internship: George Mason University’s History News Network (HNN)

“HNN is unique in that it is an online news site devoted to examining today’s happenings through a historical lens. Having the opportunity to contribute to their mission allowed me to apply the skills I’d acquired as an undergrad to a field outside the academic sphere. Overall, this internship and the incredible support I received from my professors, especially Dr. Bill Feis and Dr. Dixee Bartholomew-Feis, have reaffirmed my desire to pursue a graduate education after BVU.”
