Medical technologists, also known as clinical laboratory scientists, perform many laboratory tests to help physicians diagnose illness and provide treatment. It encompasses a number of different medical specialties including hematology, microbiology, immunology, immunohematology, and clinical chemistry. It's a career that will require you to be quick, careful, and thorough.

Upon graduating into the real world, most medical technicians work in hospitals and laboratories, many using precision electronic instruments and high-powered microscopes. They assist doctors in diagnosing and treating diseases by performing a range of tests and laboratory procedures on blood and other such body fluids in order to find chemicals, microorganisms, proteins, and other substances. Medical technologists fill hospitals and doctor's offices. They clean teeth, take x-rays, give expectant moms a first glimpse of their babies, perform lab tests, assist in human and animal surgery-and much more. Additional careers include: hospital administrator, lab technician, medical researcher, medical supply company director and pharmaceutical sales representative.
