Roberta “Bert” Hersom has worked in education for more than 40 years, with experiences centered in special education. Throughout her career, she has been a speech-language pathologist and administrator. Roberta has worked with the Birth-3 population, preschoolers, and school age students in both general and special education settings. She regularly collaborated and co-taught with general and special education teachers.

As an area education administrator, Roberta provided leadership, support, and coaching to AEA and local school teachers, staff, administrators, families, and community organizations. At a Buena Vista University, Roberta oversaw Teacher Education Preparation programs at sites around the state. Later, she was the Assistant Dean and worked primarily with accreditation, program review, and faculty support. She currently is supervising special education student teachers.
