Dr. Hart has published many poems and stories in literary journals and anthologies. Her second book of poems, The Empress of Kisses, won the X. J. Kennedy Award from Texas Review Press. Her first book of poems, Lost and Found, was published by David Robert Books. Dr. Hart has conducted research on using metaphor as a communicative tool in the writing classroom and engaging students in extended academic projects through popular culture. She regularly participates in national conferences such as the National Popular Culture Association Conference, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and West Chester Poetry Conference.
