“…opened my eyes to a new side of education”

Jen McDaniel, Class of 2012

Hometown: Des Moines, Iowa
Majors: English with secondary education licensure
Field experience: An English camp in South Korea

“Traveling to Korea impacted my experience at BVU and in education in a big way. It helped me fully understand what it was like to plan independently and to balance out the time requirements in the classroom. It also opened my eyes to a new side of education of which I was completely unaware. At all of my interviews, I was asked about this experience, and I fully believe it is part of the reason I was hired. It is an experience I brag about and would never give up.”

Hometown: Le Mars, Iowa
Majors: Elementary Education
Field Experience: Storm Lake Elementary School

“I have had many different field experiences as a student at BVU. I have been actively involved in the classroom since freshman year. I started at Storm Lake elementary and I loved it, so I knew I was on the right track. The education faculty have greatly prepared me for my future teaching career. Thanks to all of the resources and opportunities they have to offer, I feel fully prepared going into the teaching world with confidence and the readiness to learn even more.”
