Develop training methods for a large corporation. Work with children at a non-profit organization. Become a youth minister or mentor adults at your hometown church. As an educational studies major at BVU, you will become equipped with the knowledge and skills to enter a variety of education-related careers outside the traditional classroom.
The educational studies program will provide you with a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills and hands-on learning opportunities. As part of your studies, you will work alongside highly-qualified professors and explore many topics, including learning and motivation, human development, instructional technology, and creating effective learning environments. You will also acquire the tools to understand and apply principles of instruction and learning in a variety of educational settings through field experiences, internships and research. Earning a degree in educational studies will provide you with a competitive advantage in many professional contexts. The educational studies major does not lead to teacher certification. The program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in education but do not wish to become a licensed teacher.
Education is ever changing, yet some principles remain the same. At BVU, your involvement in deep conceptual teaching and learning—both as a student and as a future teacher—will prepare you to lead the change.
