"My student teaching experience was outstanding. In some cases I saw what I didn't want to do as a teacher, and in others I tried to absorb as much information as I could from an outstanding music faculty. I also enjoyed that I was not limited to just elementary or high school. I did 5-12 in both settings, and I learned a lot about dealing with kids of all ages and backgrounds. It also made me discover my love for teaching beginning band students, and how fun they are to work with."

“...confidence as a teacher”

“The most valuable thing I gained from my student teaching experience was confidence as a teacher. I learned my style of interacting with individual students as well as large groups of students and gained many new teaching strategies. I also realized during my student teaching time that it is invaluable to work so closely with an experienced professional in the field; the cooperating teacher becomes a mentor and colleague and remains an important contact even after the semester is over.”
