While downsizing expands through the U.S. economy, there is a great deal of uncertainty about its financial, organizational, and human consequences. This project focuses on exploring the trends of downsizing and why organizations have chosen to engage in such conduct. Although the driving forces of downsizing may be numerous, downsizing triggers the issue of ethical human resource practices and effective strategies within organizations. The goal for management is to develop a procedure to maximize performance and productivity for increased efficiency and effectiveness while being supportive to their labor force.
