For Meghan Harmening, a second-year accounting and finance/banking double major from Marshall, Minn., financial assistance from Buena Vista University eased her student debt load.

“Scholarships have made BVU affordable for me,” Meghan says. “I applied for several scholarships in my hometown, and the rest of my costs have been covered by BVU scholarships.”

Far beyond the classroom, Meghan enriched her learning experience with BVU’s support. “This Interim, I went on the Global Fellows trip to Chile,” she says. “No other school would have even allowed me to go to some place such as the southern tip of Chile for three weeks for such an affordable cost.” The prestigious Global Fellows Program is designed to open substantive dialogue on issues of sustainability and geopolitics from an international perspective. Global Fellows participate in interdisciplinary learning trips abroad and give back to BVU in their junior and senior years as global ambassadors with a Scholar’s Day presentation and as student mentors for the first-year program.
