Buena Vista University will host its second annual Career Connect program for BVU students in March and mid-April.
"Career Connect is a series of recruiting events designed to 'connect' our students with company representatives, learn what organizations are looking for and how to apply for a job or internship," says Carol Lytle, director of career services.
"Compared to a traditional career fair, this event is shorter, more informal, and separated into six distinct opportunities for students," she explains. "But the goal is the same – get employers on campus meeting/recruiting our students and giving students a chance to present themselves to employers."
The events will be held over a period of several days in March and April, with each session running from 4 – 6 p.m. The events will held in Dows Conference Center, except for the Exercise Science event on March 13 which will be held in the Hall of Fame room in the Siebens Fieldhouse.
Career Services is focusing invitation efforts on organizations that have not recruited on campus before, along with a number of loyal employers who regularly hire BVU students.
Each company representative will each have a few minutes to talk to all students in attendance about their organizations followed by an informal "meet and greet" over refreshments. Students may present their resumes and visit with recruiters about full-time jobs, internships, or simply to learn more about the organizations.
The event dates and employer/career focus are:
- March 7: Business, Science
- March 12: Communication/Media, Education
- March 13: Technology, Exercise Science
- April 18: Serving Others/Non-Profits (social work, criminal justice, government)
