Mark is a remarkably candid speaker who relates well to young and old alike. His lack of a "woe is me" attitude coupled with and awesome sense of humor make him an inspiration to all. Generally speaking, remarks revolve around the basic premise that the strength, growth, and inspiration for living is in the adversity. How? Through perspective, perseverance, personal courage, and "an occasional middle finger," each of which is explained in brief, and then illustrated through personal stories. The teacher in Mark values two-way communication, so he's aggressive (and likes having fun) about audience participation when possible - stories about hardship don't need to be a hardship.
