Iowa wildlife rehabilitators have been collecting data on lead poisoning in bald eagles for the last eight years. Lead poisoning is the leading cause of death for bald eagles in Iowa. Come meet a bald eagle and learn about the sources of lead poisoning in eagles and ways to prevent these deaths. Eagles are top of the food chain predators and indicator species of environmental health. Many other species (over 130, including humans) are exposed to ingesting lead through spent lead ammunition. Get informed and be a part of the solution.
