Interested in an Urban Plunge? The Spiritual Life Dept. is coordinating a weekend immersion into the Des Moines Metro Area with Christ for the City Int’l. Nov. 9-11. The weekend will be filled with discovery as you will encounter the Joppa Outreach (homelessness program), Children and Family Ministries, Freedom For Youth (at-risk youth), tour the new Central Iowa Homeless Shelter, serve a meal at the Connections Café and attend 3 uniquely focused worship services. Contact Ken Meissner if you are interested. Currently there are 16 openings. No cost to you, just your time and willingness to serve. ***For those unable to attend but excited to share in tangible manner, we are seeking the following donated items: winter hats, winter gloves or mittens, new tube socks, new underwear(men & women), LARGE brown or dark green tarps (to go on top of and hide/protect tent-home-sites in the woods downtown. Small flashlights or headlamps and AA or AAA batteries for the same. FOR KIDS=winter hats, winter gloves or mittens, kids board games, dry-erase markers, 70-100 sheet One-subject spiral notebooks, canned fruit, canned vegetables, dried beans (for food pantry).
